Clip Insights: turning video into working material
A browser extension that lets you screenshot, annotate, summarise and question a video without ever leaving it.

Video is no longer just entertainment — it is how a lot of people learn. But the tooling around it has not kept up. You watch in one window and take notes in another, and the two never quite line up.
Clip Insights is a browser extension that closes that gap: capture, annotate, summarise and question a video from inside the video itself.
The problems it solves
- Screenshots are clunky. Capturing a frame usually means leaving the player, cropping, and finding somewhere to put the file.
- Notes live somewhere else. Switching between apps mid-video loses both the timestamp and the thought.
- Long videos hide their point. Extracting the useful three minutes from a two-hour tutorial is slow work.
- Material scatters. Notes here, screenshots there, and nothing tying them to the moment they came from.
How it works
- Install the extension.
- Play the video you want to work through.
- Capture as you go — screenshots, timestamped notes, summaries, or a question in the chat.
- Read everything back inside the extension, or export the whole session as a PDF.
Every capture is stamped with the timestamp it came from, so a note always points back at the exact moment that produced it.
Who it is for
- Students building study guides and visual notes from lecture recordings.
- Professionals pulling research and project material out of talks and webinars.
- Content creators collecting reference and inspiration without breaking flow.
- Anyone who has ever tried to find “that one part” of a video again.
Why it matters
The difference between watching a video and working with one is whether you can get back to what mattered. Clip Insights makes the second thing as easy as the first.
